Use case

4G/5G Outdoor Survey and 5G Cell Orientation Validation

Is your 5G cell pointing where the plan says? After an installation, an upgrade or routine maintenance, a sector can end up a few degrees off its planned azimuth or tilt. CellScout lets the field engineer measure the real direction while still on site.

Field engineer checking 5G cell orientation at a tower with the CellScout network surveyor
  • Scan nearby 4G and 5G cells from all operators, even without a SIM
  • Lock onto the target cell by PCI, so the device doesn't hand over to a neighbor
  • Turn the directional antenna and use the compass to find where RSRP and SINR peak
  • Compare that bearing with the plan. In one survey the signal peaked at 155° on a sector planned at 120°
  • Save GPS, bearing, KPIs and speed test results to one CSV and build the outdoor heat map

The engineer leaves the site with measurements that show where each sector points. Learn more about CellScout.
